Wiryanotes January 2014, the rain hits the city of Makassar continually, flooding everywhere, and strong winds are unrelenting citizens’ roofs in some local areas. This is even more troubling Makassar city residents, especially after the new Mayor of Makassar has been elected. Danny Pomanto and Daeng Ical (Deputy Mayor). Danny Pomanto and Daeng Ical are faced with the increasing of tremendous challenges with an increasing of alarming condition in Makassar city. But, both of those partners (that often called by the DIA designation) will change the city of Makassar from zero to one hundred. From ordinary city, became a World City.

Until now the big question that always arises in local communities and immigrants are: whence the flood coming from? Since it was almost 12 years they lived in the city of Makassar, then the floods in 2014 is the highest peak of the intensity of floods, and the flood peak intensity exceeds the acceptable limit than usual.

When we analyze further, it is not a surprise to some circles. One of the reasons why the intensity of floods in Makassar increased, caused by the reduction in water catchment areas in the city of Makassar.

The statement is supported by the increasing number of housing construction. This development ultimately lead to reduction of the catchment areas. Because, every housing development, automatically more trees are felled, and swamp the stockpiled, those condition then increase the intensity of flooding in the city of Makassar. (Abra)
